The Rolykit is a hexagonal roll-up storage system. It was invented in 1973 by filmmaker Samuel Meijering.

Meijering, while working on a film script, was distracted by the clutter on his desk. He started thinking about a solution, then started drawing. Finally, he crafted the design himself out of cardboard.

Meijering and his former film academy classmate, Gied Jaspars, founded the company Golden Inventions, which sold the rights to the Rolykit to producer Van der Molen for 1 million guilders. Seventeen million copies were sold worldwide.[citation needed]

The Rolykit can be unrolled in one go, while the contents of all compartments remain securely in place. The "secret" of the Rolykit is that each compartment is only accessible when it's lying flat on the surface. Finally, when the compartments are rolled back together, the bottom of one compartment becomes the lid of another.
