Lebber vintage® - Antique oval glass dome globe Victorian era wooden base 37 x 30 x 15 cm unique collector's item.

Antique oval handmade blown glass dome with its original matching wooden base.
It was probably given as a "globe de mariage", that is, as a bridal gift for the bride and groom.
There is a raised area in the base for the glass dome to sit around.
The dome has a brown textile band.
This has been added over time to hide small chips that can occur during the carving process and provides security when you place your dome on your wooden base, the edge acts as a cushion.
If you don't like the edge, it can easily be removed.
The dome was hand made in those days, so the glass is not "as perfect" as it is today.
In the 19th century, more specifically the Victorian era, they made it with other types of materials that were not as pure.
This is reflected in unique details such as irregularities and small imperfections in the glass that give the dome more character and flair.
