This is a beautiful original antique silver purse from the Victorian era.

It is a beautiful piece for a chatelaine or handbag. It is a rare silver purse. The frame has a beautiful design and can be opened beautifully to reveal a sturdy inner frame. It has a silver hallmark 800. It has a small loop to attach to a chatelaine. The purse is in beautiful condition. The weight is considerable: 42 grams of solid silver 800. It is a very beautiful specimen and measures 8 cm from top to bottom.
The 'Chatelaine' was the queen of the household and carried many handy little accessories hanging from a silver clip. These could be scissors, pencil cases, needle cases and many other handy little items. Most included a small purse for paying merchants on deliveries.

It is made of finely worked chain mail that is simply beautiful to feel. It has a nice loop to attach it.

As a vintage or antique item it will show signs of age and patina.
