Vintage red metal wire wardrobe / hat rack / coat rack from the Frän series 1990's IKEA

Designed by an anonymous designer for the IKEA design team. The model was called Frän and has been out of production for over two decades and is one of those great vintage IKEA misses. It would easily be in the top 100 best IKEA designs of all time.

The Frän line consisted of this multifunctional two-tier rack, a similar rack but with clear coat racks in the lower part and separate coat racks and was edited in red and black.

This double-layer wall rack is a multifunctional rack: you can use it in the kitchen to put pans on it, in your hallway for hats, shoe boxes, helmets. But also perfect in a bedroom or living room, to place plant pots or hang things on. The open wire structures allow for a lot of creativity.

Made from vinyl wrapped metal.

It has a beautiful Scandinavian mid-century modern vibe. The style is similar to some of the small furniture made by the Dutch company Tomado in the 1960s.

It has four rings on the back where it can be screwed to a wall.

The rack is not signed but is a well-known young design classic.
