Vintage black metal wire wardrobe / hat rack / coat rack from the Frän series 1990's IKEA

Designed by an anonymous designer for the IKEA design team. The model was called Frän and has been out of production for over two decades and is one of those great vintage IKEA misses. It would easily be in the top 100 of best IKEA designs of all time.

The Frän line consisted of this multifunctional two-tier rack, a similar rack but with clear coat hooks in the lower part and separate coat hooks and was finished in red and black.

This double-layered wall rack is a multifunctional rack: you can use it in the kitchen to put pots on it, in your hallway for hats, shoe boxes, helmets. But also perfect in a bedroom or living room, to put plant pots on it or hang things on it. The open wire structures allow for a lot of creativity.

Made of vinyl wrapped metal.

It has a beautiful Scandinavian mid-century modern feel to it. The style is similar to some of the small furniture that the Dutch company Tomado made in the 1960s.

It has four rings on the back where it can be screwed to a wall.

The rack is not signed but is a well-known young design classic.
